Ms. Virginia Jean McDowell of Cincinnati, Ohio, announces the engagement of her daughter, Andrea Gail McDowell of Cincinnati, Ohio, to Jonathan Britt Rhodes of Brunson. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Jenkins Rhodes Jr. of Brunson. 

The bride-elect, also the daughter of the late Mr. Norman Gale McDowell of Cincinnati, Ohio, is the granddaughter of Mr. Robert Earl Lally Sr. and the late Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Lally, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Cantrell McDowell. She earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of South Carolina, where she is also an MBA candidate.

The bridegroom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. Hallie Edward Ayer and Mrs. Minerva C. Ayer of Brunson, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Jenkins Rhodes Sr. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in advertising from the University of South Carolina.

The wedding is planned for May 30, 2009, at Columbia Country Club.
